About
Thierry Amery is a visual artist from Mauritius, based in Quebec. Holder of a master's degree in visual arts from the Mahatma Gandhi Institute – School of Fine Arts, he practices drawing, painting, caricature and photography. His works have been presented at several exhibitions in Mauritius and South Africa.
Over the years, he has developed his own style of «cute caricature»: quick and similar illustrations, where the faces are caricatured in a comical rather than satirical way, with a look close to that of a child. In particular, he creates live caricatures during private, corporate and cultural events.
He also creates abstract paintings inspired by nature, where he explores organic shapes, colors and layering of ink and acrylic.
Thierry has also been teaching the arts for fourteen years. After several years of teaching in Mauritius, he is now continuing his career at Collège Sainte-Anne in Dorval, Quebec, where he teaches visual, digital and media arts.
